In news that will shock absolutely no one in Portland, Portland has been named the "Best Foodie City" in the United States of America by Wallet Hub.
That's right. It's not New York City. It's not San Francisco or Los Angeles. It's us. Rip City. Stumptown. The place no one calls Portlandia. We are number one.
So, how did Wallet Hub reach their absolutely correct conclusions? They looked at food affordability, diversity, accessibility and quality, including important stats like ice cream and frozen yogurt shops and food trucks per capita and craft breweries and wine bars per capita, in 182 cities across the country.
Second place San Francisco never even stood a chance.
The findings are actually quite in-depth and broken down by category, which means you can see that Portland, while overall number one, does not fare especially well in the category of the highest average price of beer and wine. There, we are tied near the bottom, at 177th.
Imagine, Portland, what an unstoppable force we could be if only our drinks were a little cheaper...
If you're looking to start experiencing Portland's food scene, may we suggest you start here?
